Hello and welcome to Your Council, Your News, looking back at some of stories in Reading in the last month.
The Government is abolishing Council Tax benefit from April 2013 and has asked local authorities to develop and deliver its own schemes, as part of the wider welfare reform changes.
In line with other local authorities across the country, the Council now has responsibility for devising a new council tax support scheme for residents on low incomes, whilst managing the Government's decision to cut the funding provided by ten per cent.
The council is carrying out a public consultation on what you think of the proposed local council tax support scheme.

Town Hall Square is set to undergo a £450,000 refurbishment early next year as part of major scheme to further improve one of Reading's key landmarks.
The scheme will be funded from the Council's successful 20 million pound Local Sustainable Transport Fund bid - awarded this year.
New paving, seating, streetlights and level access across the square all form part of the improvement works which, unfortunately, will also mean the unavoidable removal and replacement of the London Plane tree which was planted in 1978.
Planted without root restraints which have the effect of directing the roots away from the surface. It means over time the roots of the tree have significantly lifted the surrounding pavement and are now visible above the current paving levels.
Plans for a bike hire scheme in Reading shift up a gear as the Council begins the process of advertising its requirements to potential suppliers.
In Reading, the scheme would initially consist of 200 bicycles at around 20 locations in the town centre and to the south and east. This could then be increased to 500 bicycles at up to 50 locations. Some will be located outside of the borough boundary in West Berkshire and Wokingham.
The first phase of the Council's project to install hundreds of new energy-efficient streetlights across the town has been completed.
Old lanterns have been replaced on a number of major traffic routes, including the A33 and Wokingham Road.
In total 860 new streetlights have been installed across the town as part of a 6 month rolling project.
AND ... With the annual summer resurfacing programme for main roads now complete, the Council is now turning its attention to improving residential and smaller roads.
A total of 25 residential roads across Reading are due to be resurfaced over the coming weeks, signalling a further £350,000 investment by the Council in better surfaces for all road users.
The Rivers and Environmental Spaces Clean Up Event (RESCUE) will take place on Friday 12 and Saturday 13 October. Hundreds of volunteers from Reading businesses and voluntary groups will take part in the big litter pick.
This follows a similar RESCUE event in March which saw 30 community and business teams giving up their time to remove unsightly and sometimes hazardous rubbish from some of Reading's most beautiful wild spots.
AND finally - A whole host of exciting events and activities are taking place in Reading to celebrate Black History Month, starting from 27th September.
The programme of events has been put together by local voluntary groups and organisations, in partnership with the Council.
The festival of culture kicks off with the sound and rhythm of African drums from 8pm at South Street, residents can come along to the Beatroots AfroDrum class and learn West African influenced drumming.
